About Brooke McGlothlin
Author, Speaker, Lover of appalachia
Before you read my formal bio, I’d love for you to know this about me:
I’m just a girl who loves Jesus, a boymom who needs Him more and more every day, a wife whose husband loves her way more than she deserves, and a sinner whose past no longer defines my present. If you don’t remember anything else about me, like where I went to college, or how many books I’ve written, just remember those things? Because they represent the real me…the one who’s probably a lot more like you than you might think. We’re in this together, friends, and I’m here to help you find hope in the messes of daily life.
Brooke McGlothlin received her B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Tech (1999) and her Masters in Counseling from Liberty University (2003). She served for over 1o years as Director of Clinical Services in local Pregnancy Care ministry before making the best choice of her life—staying home with her boys. Brooke uses her ministry experience to reach women, writing to bring hope to the messes of life (in the midst of her own messy life). Find out more about her limited speaking availability, here.
In 2010, Brooke co-founded TheMOB Society with Erin Mohring, where parents are encouraged and equipped to raise godly men. In 2019 they stepped away from ministering only to moms of boys and co-founded Million Praying Moms, where the mission is to help moms make prayer their first and best response to the challenges of parenting.
Brooke has been a featured blogger at LifeWay’s ParentLife blog, the Proverbs 31 Devotional Site, and Ann Voskamp’s A Holy Experience. She’s the creator of the Fight Like a Boymom program, designed to empower mothers of boys to fight FOR their hard-to-handle boys instead of AGAINST them.
While she wears many hats, her central focus is on living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ every single day, loving her family well, and leading women toward a deeper understanding of the power of prayer.
Her life verse is Psalm 116:2 (NLT). She was introduced to it by her friend and co-author, Stacey Thacker, and has held tightly to it ever since.
This book was sparked by a simple question to thousands of moms: “If you believe you should be praying but you aren’t, why not?” Their answers revealed seven common challenges and beliefs moms have, including
· I don’t know what or how to pray
· I don’t know if my prayers really matter
· I can’t pray until I get my life together
· I’m so busy!
Complete with prayers for specific everyday situations, this book will help you overcome what’s standing in the way of your most vibrant prayer life and have you making prayer your first and best response to every aspect of motherhood.
Gospel Centered Mom
You long to be the mom your kids need, but often you’re convinced you come up short. The label “not enough” seems to be stamped across everything you do—and yet parenting is the one thing you want most to get right.
What if the solution is simply to embrace the truth that you are not enough—but God is?
In Gospel-Centered Mom Brooke McGlothlin reveals how our entire approach to motherhood shifts when we stop chasing our vision of a perfect family and start full-out pursuing God.
Hope for the Weary Mom
Do you ever feel like you’re fresh out of amazing? Daily pouring yourself out for your family, you’re tired, overwhelmed, and have nothing left to give. Hope for the Weary Mom is an honest look at where you find yourself living.
In their new book, authors Stacey Thacker and Brooke McGlothlin lead you to the God who meets you in your mess and show you that you don’t walk through life alone.
Because he bends down to listen, I will praise Him as long as I have breath.
– Psalm 116:2
